International

Image
While the shapes become lest uniform, they still keep strict geometrical shapes, keep up the idea of straight bars, and keep things simple and clean.  https://www.elledecor.com/shopping/furniture/g10281794/minimalist-furniture/   Black bars and extreme minimalism. Not much more to say, really. https://fasbest.com/70-minimalist-style-clothing-summers-must-see/minimalist-style-clothing-for-summer-66/ Here we have perfect geometrical shapes, along with black bars that honestly look like a grid formation. It's very plain and simple and perfect for international style. https://airows.com/interiors-and-home/40-ultra-modern-minimalist-homes

Contemporary

Image
Here we see studio photography in the form of contemporary art. There is a recreation of an ironic image of Frida Kahlo as a fashion designer, which I feel ties into not only parody, but arbitrary rules. https://freeyork.org/art/photographer-reimaged-frida-kahlo-as-a-modern-fashion-icon-in-vibrant-portraits/ Most houses that claim to be contemporary are actually just post modernist houses in a hat. I think this is a much better example of contemporary, as it's hand drawn and feels more loose than a technical drawing or an architectural drawing, both of which I looked into. http://arch-student.com/pin/architectural-render-hand-drawn-house-with-watercolor/ Loose, hand-drawn, studio photography, parody, but still following somewhat of a structed feel to art, thus making it a great example of contemporary. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/445574956883400903/

Digital

Image
Here we see Cyberpunk inspired fashion, which I think fits digital very well. Not only is there actual layering, a lot of the meaning behind it in to hide from big corporations. The colors also fit well, and the anarchic themes play well into it. https://www.reddit.com/r/ImaginaryFashion/comments/9ini8w/cyberpunk_fashion_by_arman_akopian/ Here we see a cyberpunk building, representing the best parts of digital. We have Japanese imagery, with overlaying and overlapping buildings and ads. The normalcy of constant adds plays into the shock factor found in a lot of digital artwork. https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/architectural/street/cyberpunk-building-24 I think graffiti is the perfect example of digital too. There's shock, it's very loose and primitive, and very communal with hand written tags and often times lots of shock and humor. https://noveltystreet.com/cool-graffiti-photo-wall-mural

Post Modernism

Image
Symbolism, function following form, playful curves and colors, and a desire to break the mold all inspire this fashion choice, which makes it peak post modernism. https://www.reckontalk.com/weird-and-funny-fashion-show-trends-part-2/ This building looks like it was pulled directly out of a post modernist museum and placed in real life, with the tilts, the color scheme, the strange design, and naturally, function following form. https://www.1stdibs.com/introspective-magazine/postmodern-design-complete/ Here is the last great example of function following form, along with playful curves, tilts, shapes, and everything else that makes it wonderfully post modernist. https://davidcharlesfox.com/minimalist-and-postmodern-interior-design-the-choice-of-lazy/

Psychedelia

Image
Here is something inspired by Glasser's work obviously, but leaning more towards Psychedelia with the intense colors and 'trippy' nature of the piece. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32441246144.html Here is an artist who turned her home into a Psychedelia dreamscape. The home looks almost handmade instead of a restoration, and the weird nature of it does not need to be explain. The vibrant colors make it almost hard to look at, which is a sure sign you're looking at art from the period. https://www.designboom.com/art/artist-kat-osullivan-new-york-home-psychedelic-calico-11-06-2014/ This is a piece that leans more heavily into the Art Nouveau aspect of the culture, with the tendrils and the handmade feeling of it. The strangeness of the shape, the reference to mushrooms, and the machinery woven in though mark it as Psychedelia. https://www.darkroastedblend.com/2008/08/psychedelic-furniture-part-2.html

Kitsch

Image
Here we see obviously the comic book Kitsch style, with the 50s styled dress. It's bright, it's dramatic, and the only thing it's missing is the iconic dots that propagated comic books back in the time. https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/456149354/comic-book-dress-pin-up-dress-retro Here is an old styled diner but in modern times. They have a lot of the iconic things you might see in a 50s diner, with checkered patterns, traditional food, and even the classic cars, but the outside décor and the windows show that no, it's still set in the modern world. https://www.newretrodining.com/index.html Here is an example from Fallout 4, one of the posters found in the game. It's in traditional kitsch style, with the exaggerated faces that are even somewhat 'floating,' but you also have the idea of the space right and the fear of communism. https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Fallout_4_posters?file=Communists_From_Space_poster.png

Late Modern

Image
Here we see overlapping shapes and a simple pattern, keep staples of the movement. It's simple, it's repetitive, and thus it's late modernism in it's core. https://www.amazon.ca/Overlapping-Triangle-Background-Fashion-Activities/dp/B08D3MLBZ5 Here we see a classic example of a modern house, which coincides with the ideals of late modernism. It's simple, looks like it's made from cutouts, large planes of white, and overlapping shapes. The idea of a modern house is simple late modernism, as seen here. https://www.thewowstyle.com/25-awesome-examples-of-modern-house/ Even on the inside of the modern house, the ideas of modernism don't go away. We still have the plane white, the simplicity, and the overlapping shapes. In the background in the portraits you can even see the overlapping shapes and cutouts often found in late modernism. https://www.miamigalleryfurniture.com/product/contemporary-sectional-sofa/
